EDITION

The inaugural issue of Dandy Magazine will examine the themes of decomposition and recomposition. Death and decay are a part of the natural life cycle, a necessary predicator of the composting process, which turns withered and rotten elements into rich, life sustaining soil. We are seeking submissions that show us which parts of the Southern identity have reached their natural ends, and are ready to be culturally composted into something new.

Feel free to interpret the theme as broadly as you like. Dandy Magazine will select works that creators can feasibly connect to the concepts of death, decay, compost, and regeneration. These may be preexisting but not previously published works, or new works created to fit the theme.

We encourage people of all faiths, all races and ethnicities, all genders and sexualities, all socioeconomic backgrounds, and all kinds of ability to submit their work. Our prerogative is to include a diverse collection of insights and expressions that encompass the lived experiences and learned wisdom of all kinds of Southerners.
