Q:
Why 'Dandy'?
A:
The term has a rich and extensive etymology, but if we were to boil it down into a single phrase, we'd quote Baudelaire: "Dandyism comes close to spirituality and stoicism... [it] is a form of Romanticism.” Our view is that the modern incarnation of the dandy archetype is the writer, the artist, or the designer who uses their creativity to express their own vision for the world. The dandy is someone who creates beauty, not for vanity’s sake, but for the purpose of inspiration and pleasure.

We'll let you know by Feb. 13, 2026. It takes some time to review every submission and give it the consideration it deserves. If your work is selected, we will reach out to request an artist statement and other information for our promotional channels.
Q:
How do I get a high quality image of my art to submit?
A:
We suggest using a scanning bed to create images of 2D artworks. The Central Arkansas Library System has a scanner available by appointment. If your work is 3D, we recommend taking a photo of it with the best camera available to you, and using your judgement to consider the optimal angles and lighting for presenting your work.
